 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES

Aim at: Being in a position to provide all possible means that will enable individuals with Visual Impairment (VI) to gain access to any form of information technology.

This is achieved through:

  • Keeping abreast of technological developments in the products used in this area
  • Cooperation with educational centers and technological institutions around the world so as to obtain the most effective access to the wide world of information
People with VI trained according to age and individual needs in the use of:
  • Personal Computers (applications, Accessibility Software, troubleshooting, use of peripherals)
  • Closed Circuit TeleVisions (CCTVs)
  • The Braille n Print
  • DAISY Audio Books and other assistive technology
In Addition:
  • Informing individuals with VI and the Ministry of Education on the available options in technological support
  • Assisting on making the best choice possible for each individuals needs
  • Cooperating with producers and retailers of specialized equipment to achieve the best and fastest supply of products to users with VI
  • Supporting every student with VI attending a mainstream school all over Cyprus with all the necessary technological equipment
  • Dealing with and finding the best solution to technical problems related to the specialized equipment
  • Providing technical and other support to the Text Transcription and Adaptation Services and to any other part of St. Barnabas School for the Blind that uses modern technology
  • Providing technical and other support to the Schools Libraries (Braille and Audio Books)
